Advertisements streamed through traditional media sources like television, radio, newspapers, hoardings, personal emails and other similar sources could be regarded as direct ones. Direct advertising is about contacting people directly, it is not targeted on specific audience due to certain limitations, yet the message is conveyed, and the specific groups can understand the purpose.

Personal emails are accessed by a majority of people and ads given in form of email are likely to grab the eyes of the accessors. This is just like door to door campaigning but the mode in this case is a bit different as it is providing of ads directly through emails.
